Polar Sponsors Local Athletes and Provides Free
Heart Rate Monitor Demos for Running Groups
In an effort to promote fitness and support local athletes, Polar USA, the number one maker of heart rate monitors, has sponsored ten Colorado amateur athletes as Team Polar for the 2007 season. At the heart of the initiative is a peer-to-peer influencer strategy that allows athletes to serve as fitness ambassadors in their local community.
Mary Scholten is one of the Denver athletes chosen by Polar. “I feel strongly about encouraging everyone to include fitness in their lifestyle regardless of age, weight or ability. The fact that Polar makes a top-of-the-line fitness product makes me proud to be sponsored by them.” Team Polar will have demo units available at Wheat Ridge Cyclery on July 12th.
Polar is dedicated to providing leading technology that delivers valuable feedback information to help users gain a better understanding of their bodies and their overall fitness levels.
By using your heart rate to establish “Target Zones” an athlete can monitor his or her training intensity to accomplish specific fitness goals. A Target Zone is a heart rate range that guides your workout by keeping your intensity between an upper and lower heart rate limit. There are various target zones that are suggested for an individual to follow that correspond with a specific exercise goal, i.e.: Improved Fitness Zone is 70-80% of max heart rate.
By educating the community on how to use heart rate as an effective fitness guide, Team Polar hopes to help create a healthier Colorado. If your training club would like a free demonstration of Polar hear rate monitors, please write to Mary Scholten at cont2rary@yahoo.com.
