Message from Olivia

Hey Wendy,
The crash sucked but I’m starting to improve pretty dramatically (it seems). I was out for what was supposed to be a chill mountain bike ride and got caught out when I hit a little dip right before a water bar. I think the combination of going too fast, not being focused enough to have seen it, and being tired contributed to a complete endo. I was in a pretty bad way Wednesday through Saturday mid afternoon when I decided to get outside and take a walk. I had to do something to get the blood moving again even though each breath and every footfall were painful. When I got done with that I felt a lot better so I promised myself a bike ride on Sunday. With the exception of some pain on rough patches of road, and a few deep breaths that were pretty harsh on some moderate climbs I felt OK. I didn’t ride very fast mind you, but I was out, and moving. So that gave me some hope. I’m going to try a short, easy run this evening and then try getting in the water again tomorrow morning. My hope is to still make it through my remaining planned races for the year. Although I might have to relax my time goals a little now, but I still want to be able to do the events. I have to say that if I continue to improve at this rate, the Long Course event is probably going to be the most ”iffy” in terms of my ability to put down any sort of decent time, but I would hope that by the Harvestmoon Half Iron in September that I might be back on form. We’ll see though….My fingers are crossed!
This weekend I did get a clinic scheduled at the Denver Athletic Club on Thursday September 20. (Luckily this is my 3rd clinic...so there wasn't a concern there...it just won't help us toward that $1K!) Anyway, they’re putting a special feature for their monthly member’s news that goes out to all members advertising the clinic and are going to take care of fliers and signage for around the club. And they will put it in their weekly e-mail as the event gets closer. I think I may also see if I can get Lindsay to send me one of the posters they sent out for the retail events. I’m really psyched about this clinic because it has the potential to be so much better than the previous ones I’ve done because I have the resources of the club at my disposal! Plus since they sell Polar out of their pro shop there might be some sales generated out of the whole thing! Anyway, so put me down as needing the monitors that week.
